Avery started Kindergarten yesterday. Very sad and exciting at the same time. She was just excited, the sadness was from me. I can't believe I have a 5 year old, and that she is in real big kid school, riding a real school bus. It's a bit scary, as well, but Avery was not nervous at all and had a great time at school, as well as riding the bus there. We decided to let her ride the bus, because the school is like literally less than a mile down the road, and she is one of the last stops, plus when I am at work and Chuck has to get her ready, we didn't want to have to get Evan up, just to ride to her school. Yesterday morning worried me a little, because she had never been on a bus or anything, so I didn't know if she would know where to sit, how to sit (since there are no seat belts), and when to stand up and get off the bus, but when I picked her up in the afternoon, she said she did fine. Oh, and about picking her up, her bus would have had her home at 2:35 (they get out at 2:25), but picking her up, and waiting in line, we got home at 2:55. Needless to say, she will be primarily a bus rider. She said she had a great day, on the behavior color chart she got purple-the best you can get- they start the day on green, go to yellow if misbehaving, go to red if really bad, but if on green they are really good, they go to purple, and get a prize!! I know it's the first day, and probably all the kids did well, but I'm hoping she stays this way!! Her school starts at 7:45, so the bus is coming about 7:00, well it was 20 minutes late, which almost caused me to be late to my last day or orientation, but the bus driver was apologetic and said she had issues-first day and all!! So here are some pics of Avery's first day. The first 4 are before school, and the humidity did something to the lens of the camera, so they are a bit fuzzy, and Avery is obviously tired looking, since she had to get up a little after 6:00.
Ready for school-I did let her pick her outfit, but made her choose b/t the 3 I picked! And she chose the 2 braids for her hair, which I was glad about since she always wants it down.
Ready to go to the bus with her backpack-lunch box inside(same pattern as backpack)
Standing at the "bus stop"-our driveway, but then we went across the street to stand with that little girl, so that the bus didn't have to stop twice that close together!
Walking around the bus to get on-I told her to watch the driver the whole time she was walking and what this pic doesn't show, is that she looked both ways while she was crossing(at least she's following that rule I taught her)
Getting home after her first day. Surprisingly not that tired, Mommy on the other hand was exhausted!!!
My week ended with about 35 hours in the classroom and computer room, learning about the hospital and how things work. By Friday afternoon, I couldn't even think anymore. I was just so tired from the early schedule all this week. I lied down to rest while Evan was napping, and was so physically exhausted, that I didn't fall asleep, but didn't feel like I could get up either. I did, though, and the kids and I went to Athens to have dinner with my father, Wiz, Mandy, Bailey and Morgan. When I finally got home and got in bed, I crashed!! And slept "late" this morning-I woke up on my own at 7:30, and could not go back to sleep. I start in the actual ER on Monday, but will still have a ton of training before I am on my own with patients. Wish me luck! Hope everyone's week went well with kids starting school, etc.

Avery is just gorgeous. I love that last picture of her, she looks so proud! I hope your first week in the ER goes well!
What a busy week, huh? Sounds like it is all going well despite it being so exhausting! I am quite sure David's first day of school won't go even half as well as Avery's! She looks so pretty-I bet all the little boys in her class have a crush on her already!
